Walmer in Bloom

Today, we were delighted to welcome representatives from Walmer Town Council, who visited to present certificates and prizes to the winners and runners-up of the Walmer in Bloom Competition.

Pupils were challenged to design a bright and colourful poster that the Town Council will use in their publications throughout the summer. We were incredibly impressed by the creativity and effort shown by all of the children who took part.

Congratulations to our winners and runners-up—well done on your fantastic achievement!

Preston Class

This week in Preston class, we have been really enjoying our cooking sessions, especially exploring different sensory aspects as well as learning how to use the scales.

We continue to love our music sessions, where we have the opportunity to explore a range of musical instruments and have fun using the parachute.

We have also been working very hard on our individual learning tasks through our learning boxes, focusing on numeracy, handwriting, and phonics. We learn a great deal through our child-initiated time too, and have particularly enjoyed building with blocks and playing with cars.

To top it all off, we were excited to take part in the Race for Life event, which was a fantastic experience for everyone.

Frampton Farm

A huge thank you to Frampton farm for welcoming a group of pupils for a fantastic morning of work experience. Our pupils had such a valuable hands-on experience feeding the animals, mucking out and spending time with the lambs and goats. A wonderful opportunity to learn more about farm life and animal care. 🐮🐑🚜

Folkestone Museum

A huge thank you to Folkestone Museum for welcoming one of our pupils for their work experience last week.

This opportunity gave our pupil valuable hands-on experience, new skills, and insight into the world of work. Experiences like this help young people build their confidence, develop workplace-skills and explore future career possibilities. Thank you again for investing in our pupils and making their experience such a positive and memorable one.

Folkestone College Visit

A big thank you to Folkestone College for welcoming our pupils for an informative and inspiring tour of your campus on Friday. Our pupils had a fantastic opportunity to explore the campus, learn more about the facilities available and gain a valuable insight into further education pathways. Visits like these help our pupils make informed decisions and feel excited about their next steps.

River Class

In Science this term we have been looking at plants and trees.

In week one we looked at seed dispersal, and we set up a simple plant growth investigation by adding broad beans into a cup and watching them begin to grow.

Week 2 was all about the functions of roots and stems, including water transportation.  We investigated this by adding food colouring to water and then adding some white carnations to the water to see what would happen when the flowers started to bloom.

This week we looked at the function of leaves and we explored a range of different leaves, talking about what we could see and identified the similarities and also the differences.

Dominican Republic and Panama Class

Dom Rep and Panama classes have been enjoying their Tuesday morning exploring Beacon Woods. It is lovely to see all the pupils playing together and some of them stepping out of their comfort zones by climbing trees.

At the end of the session we sit together for a story.

St Lucia Class

🏆⚽ Saint Lucia smashed it at the Gladiator event! 🏀🎉

Saint Lucia had a fantastic morning at Three Hills, throwing themselves into the action at the Gladiator event. 💪🔥 Pupils tried a brilliant mix of sports including futsal, wheelchair basketball, cricket with a twist, table tennis, and the high-energy Kin‑Ball. 🙌

Everyone got stuck in, loved the challenge of trying new sports, and had a great time competing and collaborating as a class. 🤝 The experience was made even more special by playing alongside the inspiring Sports Leaders from Harvey Grammar School. 🌟

So much energy, teamwork, and fun sport at its best! 👟👏

Ivory Coast Class

This term in Humanities Ivory Coast will be looking at local history with a focus around Dover Castle. To start this topic, we looked at maps of the local area to identify where Dover Castle is and how it was built for purpose.

Bahamas Class

At the start of term, Bahamas Class stepped into history with an amazing trip to Canterbury Cathedral 🏰. Pupils fully embraced the adventure, dressing up as pilgrims, knights, monks, the King, and even the Archbishop of Canterbury! 👑⚔️

We explored the cathedral on a guided tour, discovering the dramatic story of Thomas Becket’s murder and his sainthood—history truly came alive!

The excitement continued with a hands-on workshop where pupils tried their skills at stone masonry, stained-glass window making, hauling stones with a winch, calligraphy, and even building their own wooden model of the cathedral 🪟🪨✍️

Every pupil represented the school brilliantly, showing excellent behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the day. A trip full of learning, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime! 🌟📸
