Research & Development
Welcome to the Research and Development section of The Beacon’s website!
The Beacon is an evidence-led provision, with thorough investigation and consideration given to everything we do.
The school’s research focus is led by Donna Wickens, Leader of Learning for Research and Development (and Senior Leader of Learning - Specialist Classes). Donna is also a Chartered College of Teachers Research Champion and an EEFective Kent Evidence Champion.
Supporting Donna is our Research and Development Focus Group, made up of a selection of staff from different areas of the school with a particular interest in evidence-based practice, and research and development in general.

Our termly newsletter is becoming increasingly popular within school, with ever-developing improvements in quality and range of content, both from regular contributors and ‘guest’ authors. We are pleased now to have this forum to share our newsletters more widely, and welcome suggestions for future content and perhaps even items for inclusion in future editions.
Please email our publication co-ordinator alison.grimmett@thebeacon.kent.sch.uk if you’d like to contact us about the newsletter, or donna.wickens@thebeacon.kent.sch.uk if you have anything relating to Research and Development more generally.
