Careers - Information for students
Message from Assistant Headteacher for Zone 3 and Careers Lead
At The Beacon, you will be provided with opportunities to learn about a range of jobs, placements, internships, apprenticeships, social care and onward progression routes to prepare you for your next steps into adulthood. You will have the opportunity and support to discuss and think about your next steps and what is your best onward route. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to really think about what your life will be like as an adult.
All staff at The Beacon are here to support your transition into your onward route. They are able to provide you with the best help and advice you need to support you making these exciting decisions.
You will study Life Skills, Employability, your chosen subject options, as well as being able to access the community and develop your confidence and understanding of The World of Work.
You will have the opportunity to meet visitors and experience employer encounters, who will come in and discuss job opportunities and careers with you.
Where appropriate, you will participate in work experience in year 10 and again in the 6th form. These placements are designed to meet your needs and aspirations.
You will also get dedicated time to talk to our trained careers advisor (Mel Winter) to discuss your next steps.
If you would like to find out more about how we support you with careers and next steps at The Beacon, please speak to your form tutor or to me.
